Meridian lines are imaginary lines that run from the North Pole to the South Pole on the Earth's surface. They are used to measure longitude, which is the distance east or west of the Prime Meridian (0 degrees longitude) that passes through Greenwich, England. Meridian lines help to establish a reference point for navigation and timekeeping around the world. **

Yes, the prime meridian does pass through the equator. The prime meridian is the line of 0 degrees longitude, and it runs from the North Pole to the South Pole, passing through Greenwich, England. Meridians are the lines of longitude that run from the North Pole to the South Pole, and there are multiple meridians around the globe, not just one. Each meridian is spaced 15 degrees apart, creating a grid system for locating positions on the Earth's surface. **

In astronomy, a meridian is an imaginary line that runs from the north point on the horizon, through the zenith (the point directly overhead), to the south point on the horizon. It is used as a reference point for determining the position of celestial objects in the sky. The meridian is important for astronomers as it helps them track the movement of stars, planets, and other celestial bodies across the sky. By observing when objects cross the meridian, astronomers can accurately measure their positions and track their movements. **

No, the Prime Meridian is not the longest line of longitude. The Prime Meridian is the line of longitude that has a measurement of 0 degrees and runs from the North Pole to the South Pole, dividing the Earth into the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. However, the longest line of longitude is the line that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole on the opposite side of the Earth from the Prime Meridian, which is 180 degrees longitude. This line is often referred to as the International Date Line. **

No, dogs are not allowed on the Meridian. The Meridian is a public transportation system, and pets are generally not permitted on public transportation for safety and hygiene reasons. It is important to check the specific rules and regulations of the transportation system before bringing a pet on board. **

The International Date Line is an imaginary line that determines where one day ends and another begins on the Earth's surface. It is located at 180 degrees longitude and is where the date changes as one travels east or west across it. The Prime Meridian, on the other hand, is the line of 0 degrees longitude, from which all other longitudes are measured. It serves as the reference point for determining time zones and is located in Greenwich, England. **
